Unlocking Innovation through Metadata Federation
-
'First of kind' federated metadata catalogue for administrative data spanning all 4 nations of the UK
-
Amplified impact through enhanced discovery
-
£5 worth of benefit for every £1 spent
As a major investment by the Economic and Social Research Council, ADR UK (Administrative Data Research UK) is a UK-wide partnership transforming the wealth of public sector data into research assets and policy-relevant insights. Each of ADR UK’s 4 partners have a wealth of data available to researchers within their own data centres. However, the value of the data within a single environment can be amplified if researchers link data across multiple environments. Linking data presents ADR UK and the UK research community with a huge opportunity to supercharge innovation. Find out how we helped them achieve their goals.
"Across all four ADR UK’s trusted research environments, there is an ever-expanding suite of administrative datasets that researchers can access. For the first time, all of the information about these datasets is searchable from one site. This is a great achievement!"
TRANSFORMING THE FUTURE OF ADULT SOCIAL CARE DATA
-
UK's first National Adult Social Care Record Standard
-
National Social Care Metadata covering 58 data collections, 11 data standards and 17 terminologies.
-
Assurance Portal deployed to validate suppliers conformance to new standards
The Digitising Social Care initiative is a major government programme commissioned by NHS England and the Department for Health and Social Care, with the aim of enhancing the digital landscape within the Adult Social Care sector in the UK. The sector faces significant challenges due to budget constraints, additional workload, and regulatory pressure. Better use of data can unlock valuable insights, empower evidence-based decision-making, and optimize the delivery of care but a lack of standardization and ‘data best-practice’ was holding the sector back. A lack of data sharing and collaboration between care providers already contributes to higher costs, a lack of visibility and an inability to provide truly joined up care. Find out how we helped them achieve their goals.

CATALYSING DATA USE: FROM KICK-OFF TO IMPACT IN JUST 3-MONTHS
-
12x more visits to Secure Research Service Metadata
-
Establishing Best Practice and Enhancing Usability both upstream and downstream
-
Empowering 3500 researchers to find and understand SRS data
-
Facilitating over 100,000 interactions annually
Finding and using data within the ONS Secure Research Service (SRS) posed significant challenges and frustrations for data analysts, both internal and external to the organisation. The use of a secure on-premise data server hindered the seamless dissemination of information about the data to researchers and the public. Additionally, an outdated webpage listing datasets offered an incomplete view of the available data, further exacerbating the issue. Find out how we helped them achieve their goals.
"It's changed everything. Before metadata was very much an afterthought and now it's integral to business as usual"
Surpassing metadata onboarding targets by 30x
-
412 datasets from 17 organisations onboarded in the first 3 months
-
Stretch targets exceeded by 30x
-
Developed a blueprint for national metadata endeavours aiming to leverage health data for research.
Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) is at the forefront of a mission with the goal to revolutionize health discoveries that directly improve people’s lives. By uniting the UK's health data, HDR UK enables researchers and innovators to gain invaluable insights into diseases, paving the way for enhanced prevention, treatment, and cure strategies. Despite the noble cause, accessing and understanding the vast landscape of health data present unique challenges. Find out how we helped them achieve their goals.

Improving Data Quality
Genomics England is the main pillar of the Government’s strategy to sequence 500k human genomes, deliver genomic medicine to the NHS and enhance UK research in genomics. Discover how we enabled them to quickly and effortlessly coordinate data collection across 85 NHS trusts and hospitals.

Mapping Standards
NHS Digital needs to be able to update their codes to the Unified Test List (UTL) based on SNOMED CT coding systems for their Pathology Terminology Project and develop a process for creating code mapping to support future additions for the UTL as well as version management.

Secure Data Environments
NHS England needed to accelerate the deployment of federated, discoverable metadata registries across the network of secure data environments in the UK.
